What i have found out about the overall pain that acts like fibermyagla is that the spondylitus activity that is going on in the spine is creating a nerve like storm that radiates through the whole body. Also you do know that this disease attacks everything in the body organs and all joints. It acts like RA but not the same hands joint damage as RA. I have had 2 strokes due to the auto immune part of the disease and wide spread pain from it also but my organs are doing fine?

Question about your regular Rheumy routine (alliteration anyone?): I was diagnosed just over 2 years ago. After the first several months, my routine has become pretty settled: CBC, liver panel, sed rate check, doc manually measures my chest expansion as well as the amount of stretch in my back. At some point past the initial MRIs confirming bilateral SI fusion, I expected another round of x-rays or MRIs. Do any of your docs follow-up with imaging on some type of annual or other basis?

I am due to go to orthopeadics on thursday, however i'm not sure the GP has sent me to the right person. Do i attend this appointment and ask GP for rheumy appointment? Or will ortho refer me? Bit confused. I have slight scoliosis in lumbar spine, loss of lumbar lordosis, ESR 147, sacro joints misaligned, pubic bone seperated by 15mm, tilted knee caps with traumatic artheritis, and pain in wrists/fingers.

Just had a visit with my Rheumatologist and he informed me that from a recent conference he attended, they are now finding that the injections (ebrel, humira, etc) aren't working for people with AS like they originally thought. It still helps with joint damage and inflammation in the outter joints but doesn't really help with the spine and hips from fusing.. Anybody else hear this and how do you feel about it? This is a scary thought.. Back to square 1?

Had First appointment with Rheumatologist, did the leg bending laid on the bed, and my knees snapped back (very Painful) then they went into convulsions; no diagnosis today, but least she knows; and confirmed she accepts I am not putting it on, very pleasant person and already said, returning to my line of work, machine operator in print finishing was very unlikely, and may never get my strength back fully, blood tests & chest x-ray done today, plus an MRI of my entire spine in due course?

Has anyone ever heard of SAPHO syndrome? I was researching and came across it. None of my rheumy's have ever mentioned it but the symptoms are identical, SI joint inflammation, and, strangely, ACNE! Look at the article on wikipedia for SAPHO syndrome. Buten.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAPHO_syndrome

I had a very pleasant visit with my rheumatologist Thursday. She's very knowledgeable and has a very calm and relaxing tone about her, answering all of my questions before I could ask them. I'm starting with Humira after insurance paperwork goes through. My question is what's your preference between using the pen or syringe and where do you inject, thigh or stomach?

I read a lot of people talk about finding a good Rheumatologist and having to travel many miles to see them. Are good ones so few and far apart and what qualities make a good one?

Looks like my rheumy has become so popular that he's unavailable for months at a time. I'm not even able to get an appointment. So I'm looking for a new rheumy who specializes in AS and PsA in the Los Angeles area. Any referrals?

Can someone fill me in on what to expect at my first Rheumatology appointment. This is actually my second rheumatologist but apparently the basket case I saw the first go around, over a year ago, didn't really do a work up like a normal Rheumy would. I'm just really nervous so would love anything you could share, on what to expect? Tips on things to ask, do, bring... Anything and everything would be greatly appreciated. They told me to bring all my meds, but that's about it. Thanks
