Hi, I've been battling a cough for about a week. Should have taken Humira last Wednesday, but told by rheumy that I can't take it when I have an infection. Also told that I can probably wait a week w/out worrying about a flare, but worried that the cough won't go away by next Wednesday. Also worried that if I DO flare, it will reduce Humira's usefulness. Anyone deal w/ long infections while on Humira and still take it? Prob go to GI doc 2morrow for antibiotics.

I have only been on humira just short of a month and I have had my first infection which was caused by having the flu vaccination. This infection has knocked the hell out of me and I feel shocking. I am beginning to wonder if going on humira is really worth it?

For all you biologic's users: My dr prescribed antibiotics because my sinus's are inflamed, but i have no symptoms of a sinus infection. He also said to NOT skip my enbrel dose. Have any of you experienced infections that dont present themselves in a regular way? Or taken antibiotics on your meds?

I just got out of the hospital from an 8 day stay for infection. The infection was very fast Sun. Weeded garden, by Tues. Needed iv antibiotics, Wed. Admitted , Thurs . Surgery to remove necrotic tissue and drain infection. Humira user. Has any one had such a rapid infection?

I just want to put this information out there. I recently contracted an enterovirus, and being on a biologic medication (TNFIs), it brought me to the hospital with dehydration. My body just couldn't fight it off (and I'm still struggling five days later). If you suspect that you might have caught a stomach bug, you might consider holding off on a shot. I think that my shot was timed perfectly wrong this last week?

Staph infection and Spondylitis: What do I need to know? I have been home with a sinus/ear infection and started antibiotics on Monday. This morning I finagled a dermatology appt, and the doc determined that the lumps and bumps I have all over are a *staph infection*. Swabbed a culture of one of them and we'll get the MRSA results tomorrow. Is there anything special about staph and spondy? Luckily I stopped Enbrel injections about a month ago, so I should have *some* immune system . .

For those of you who have had to deal with opportunistic viruses, et al, as a side effect of the TNF meds (in my case, Humira - I've had bronchial infections three times in the last eight months), how have you dealt with this?

Has anyone had a platelet building treatments. My Hemo & Rheumy have been working together & think that possibly my low platelets are keeping my bio's from working. They want to possibly start building my platelets through treatment. Any advice would be appreciated?

I only just started on Enbrel a month ago and I have a throat infection and it's not going away. I have had one lot of anti-biotics and the doc want to give me a different one and thinks I have glandular fever. Does it ever get better?
