I stopped taking doxepin after 8 or so years. I took it for insomnia. After about 2 months, my feelings of wellbeing got so much better. I have accepted my illnesses. I no longer beat myself up about not being able to do something. I just take care of what I can. I fold a load of clothes or do the dishes and reward myself w something I like to do(weaving). I feel so much better about myself?

I'm 53, dx this year with AS. Started with bilat achil. Tend. At age 30, Always ached, over the years i had what i now know were flares, I'd sit hunched up and cry as my whole body "hummed" with pain. New pains, weird how it keeps moving around! Neck, grinds and pops, lower back gets like a cramp, sensation of pulling down, have to sit for it to go away. I'm a nurse, so this is hellishly inconvenient, if i don't sit my back goes numb, like shot with anesthesia, thoracic and lumbar. Any ideas?

I just had to post a thank you. I was amazed when I logged back on the day after posting my question and saw how many replies I had. It brings me to (happy) tears. As I'm sure many of you know it's so hard to find anyone to empathize with the struggle of living with AS. You are all wonderful, and honestly have given me renewed hope. Thank You?

How accurate is a sed rate blood test? I've been having horrible pain in my neck, hips, chest and heels but when my doctor tested for inflammation, ect, everything came back normal. (I am 31 years old and was diagnosed two years ago.)
Can anybody tell me, if I am diagnose HLA B 27 Positive through test conducted by "Flow Cytometry Method" is need to do again through "Nested PCR Method" to establish AS or it is confirm I am HLA B 27 +?
I'd be more scared of not knowing what's going on in me than finally finding out. One of the secrets to happiness is to realize that of all the bad things we think could happen, 9 out of 10 of them drop away without ever becoming real?

About 5 years ago when I had a uveitis attack so bad I went from 20/15 vision to totally blind in ten days. My right eye appeared to have spider webs behind my lens that would not go away. This was not corrected until cataract surgery 2 years later, and my eye has since returned to 20/15 which is better than 20/20. Has anyone else had this spider web effect from uveitis?

I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence but I've noticed the more stress I have at work, the worse I feel. Like, I had been doing pretty good but I've had an awful week and now I'm in a flare. Has anyone else noticed a correlation between stress & pain?
