Hi im 14 and was diagnosed with severe JAS last year. I am regularly on pain killers (Tramadex, Rokacet, and Paracamol, and taking Naxcin). I am on my 7 Humira shot. I am supposed to go skiing next week in Austria, and I wanted to know if it could worsen the inflammation?

I am getting refused by insurance companies for pre-existing conditions and even the state's high risk pool won't get me over the non-coverage for 12 months even though I had insurance through end of July. Tomorrow is the 63 day mark where they can refuse pre-existing related bills for 12 months, does anyone have any advice for this here in the US? I am convinced 90% of our health care woes can be solved by cracking down on these insurance companies and their greed!

I have a question about remicade. Has anyone exhausted the effects? After several months the effects diminished, increasing dosage only to repeat diminishing returns. I am now at 750mg every four weeks and the effects seem nil. The resulting pain is worse than ever, in places where there was no pain. Rheumatologist doesn't seem to have answers or alternatives at least yet. What's next for treatment? I am told if you develop antibodies to remicade then you will also have same reaction to others.

Has anyone had block injections in the neck for stenosis? I have stenosis, my neurosurgeon recommends these block injections rather than fusion because AS will fuse it anyway and/or it will cause more pain. I am not sure about their effectiveness. Does anyone know what happens and how it works? I am very confused.

Question about your regular Rheumy routine (alliteration anyone?): I was diagnosed just over 2 years ago. After the first several months, my routine has become pretty settled: CBC, liver panel, sed rate check, doc manually measures my chest expansion as well as the amount of stretch in my back. At some point past the initial MRIs confirming bilateral SI fusion, I expected another round of x-rays or MRIs. Do any of your docs follow-up with imaging on some type of annual or other basis?

Anyone on fentanyl patches? Do they work for you at all? I started at 25 mcg a month ago and I'm in so much pain that suicide is an option! May I ask your dose?
