Do a lot of people here struggle with digestion? Food allergies?

I'm basically allergic or bothered by anything except meat, potatoes, and water. Have given up trying. Foods/drinks either cause digestive issues, pain, frequent urination ( every 10 min for 5 hours) constipation, diarrhea, etc, etc. I just take tons of meds. Now my liver is going. Oh well, maybe it will all be over soon. I can barely get to work every day. Now have some form of permanent planter fasciitis. Lost $4400 last year due to leave w/o pay. 7 more years till retirement, but I'll probably be dead by then. Had knee surgery because NSAIDs destroyed my good knee. Sounds drive me crazy. My co-workers hate me, and vice-versa. I'm in Hell.

I have IBS and lactose intolerance.  Rhumy thinks IBS may actually be IBD, but I'm not sure it is.

I have problems with a lot of foods also & I'm so glad You asked this question because everybody's answers were great!!  I've been struggling with yeast issues recently. I didn't realize it could be the cause of my recent inflammation problems.  .  So thank you Mel!!

Eggs, Dairy, Gluten, Corn...it sucks, but there are still lots of great foods to eat! I really honestly believe there is a connection between food allergies/digestion issues and autoimmune conditions. I also have to watch my intake of yeast, vinegar, and other fermented foods, as they increase yeast overgrowth in the body. A yeast overgrowth problem can cause inflammation and joint pain. I take Nystatin and Oil of Oregano to fight off yeast overgrowth. There is a ton of info out there on the link between diet and chronic conditions. There are also suggestions for diet "trials." One is call the "Hay" diet (named after the man, not like hay at the farm :-). There is also the elimination diet, which is a basic way to test yourself for food sensitivities. Also muscle testing is another way to test yourself at home for sensitivities. Maybe worth googling some of the stuff? Hope this helps some...I'm big on this subject b/c it has helped my autistic 3 year old SO MUCH, as well as my 7 yr old who has juvenile rheumatoid, and myself.

Well I don't know if it is from AS because I have had problems prior to my diagnosis and starting meds.  It has been said that there are links to AS and digestion.  I am lactose intolerant, get the runs if I eat eggs that wet yokes.  I try to eat healthy but cannot always achieve it.  What does not give me the runs, gives me gas.  Very painful gas.  Another thing I have noticed is that a lot of AS people seems to have gall bladder issue as well.

Yes. I have Coeliac Disease (a lifelong allergy to gluten which is the protein found in wheat, oats, barley, rye, triticale and anything derived from those grains). My diet is strictly gluten free. I get sick from any gluten containing food, any cross-contact with gluten containing food, etc.

I am not lactose intolerant yet I have problems eating yogurt and pizza from certain places. For example Papa John's pizza will give me the runs within minutes. Eggs if they are very fresh are not a problem, but if they have been sitting in the fridge for more than a week will cause me problems too. I think it's all those years on NSAIDS.
