I might be taking a new job in another city and I am worried about the insurance. Has anybody switched jobs and had any problems? I know I should let HR know about my condition but I am worried that might ruin my chance at this new job.

I switched jobs and moved to a different state. The first time I switched jobs I was able to call the insurance company and ask if they covered my meds and if my dotor was on the plan. The second time I got a new job I asked what their insurance coverage was before I accepted the position. They had a United Healthcare PPO so I knew I would be ok. When I moved to a different state I ask my rhemy if he knew of a doctor in the new state and he did so that took care of that. It can be scary to move to a new job or location. Even if you do have a job the employer could change your insurnace coverage on you when they renew their policies. It is always a worry.
Thx for the answer..since I'll be heading to S.F. From L.A. I'll have to ask my doctors and see if they have any recommendations. I am hoping they do. It seems like I should let HR know if i get the job. Always a worry to say thanks for that job offer and hey I have this disease..

Hi!
This is kind of my speciality - I worked in HR for 7 years before leaving for disability a year ago.
#1 - I highly recommend declaring that you have a "disability" at HR. They can't tell anyone unless you want them to do so and it will be documented so that you can get reasonable accommodations.
#2 - Employee Insurance Health Plans are 99% pre-existing condition free. However, this is also something to address with HR.
Hope this helps! Please let me know if I can help more.
