I recieved my first injections of cimzia over a week ao i dont feel any different yet but i hope this is my answer to my as?
Hey, Amy. I started on Cimzia 7 weeks ago. It took a good three to four weeks before I started feeling the effects. And at this point, I consider Cimzia a major win for me. I'm now back to doing most of the things that I couldn't do just two months ago. For instance, I just spent 8 hours yesterday putting together a new gas grill - lots of little screws, nuts, bolts, lifting heavy pieces, lying on my back to access small spaces, etc. Yes, I'm bloody sore today, but I would have crippled myself previously, trying to even do half that effort.
My energy is also now much higher. FYI, the day that I started Cimzia, I made a major change in my life. I started wearing a fitbit (www.fitbit.com) and keeping track of all my exercise and my food. I've now dropped 24 lbs - so the change in diet and weight loss also probably figure into the increased energy and lessening of AS symptoms and pain. I cut out sugar entirely, removed bread (bread is my comfort food), reduced my portion sizes and generally just restocked my larder with more healthy foods. It's not a diet - it's just sensible eating. I highly recommend it. :)
Good luck to you - I'm really interested in hearing how you do on Cimzia.

Oh and a bit of clarification: I don't want to give the impression that my AS has disappeared. It hasn't. It's just reduced to the point where I can mostly push it into the background. Some days, my hands have some difficulties (today, not surprising, considering the aforementioned building of the gas grill), other days, it's my feet, shoulders or my hips ... But very surprisingly, most of my spinal pain is gone. And that was previously so out of control, that it was difficult for me to breathe without pain.
I really hope you get just as much out of Cimzia as I've gotten - if not more. by Chapps 1 year ago
Time frame to feel the effects of this class of drug is anywhere from 1 week to 6 months. Usually your doctor will keep you on whatever you were taking until out kicks in unless there is an interaction or you has to quit the previous drug sure to a bad reaction.
