I wish you the best of luck with the Humira. I was on Humira, Enbrel, and Simponi. They all have failed on me within 6 months. I am not treated with opiates since I have had drug and alcohol abuse in my younger years. I was dx'ed in my late 40's. While they did work, I took less ib or celebrex. So hopefully you will be able use less opiates. Just remember what works for one, may not work for another.

Does anyone know if there is anything natural that you can take to help with the AS pain?
I have been taking Zyflamend for about 2 years. It doesn't always work. When the weather is humid it has almost no effect on me. But if it's dry, it usually works. It doesn't get rid of all my joint pain, but enough so that it's tolerable. -
Does anyone know if there is anything natural that you can take to help with the AS pain?
The short answer.....I wish! There are probably tons of opinions on this, but I have not had much luck in that route. I've come to the conclusion that our condition is just too serious for natural methods alone. Again, everyone is different though and has varying degrees of severity. Some say an "anti-inflammatory" diet helps or herbs like ginger and fish oil. I do take fish oil and feel it's safe enough, but Remicade has been the miracle drug for me. Not crazy about being on it, but not being on it now scares me more! No natural method made a big enough dent for me. I'm probably going to spark some friendly debate here. :) -
I, too, was diagnosed finally a couple of years ago in my mid-50s. I'm on Humira, low-dose prednisone and Tramadol ER (mild, long-acting synthetic opiate). The Humira (been on it 2 years) is WONDERFUL! Hope to get off the tramadol and prednisone ASAP. Hoping you find a good way to treat the inflammation and get back to living!

I have them at times, but I don't guess I've ever related them to my AS -- or at least I've never paid attention to whether it only happens during a flare. I also get dizzy, almost to the point of nausea, if I lay completely flat on the ground, as you would to do a situp. This didn't start until I was 20, which is soon after my doctor believes my AS set in, so perhaps they're related? I should be clear that I don't have spikes so much when I stand, just the dips.

Anyone know a good dr. In Shreveport?
There are several average rheumatologists in Tyler and one that's probably above average. Worked as a nurse in Tyler several years before I had to get a desk job due to AS. MD details on request. Best wishes, Lauren.
